We may say mental health is the healthy exercise of our mental abilities and capabilities. Normal people may find it hard to describe or define what it is. We say a person is mentally healthy when he is able to interact with other persons well. We only get to notice it when someone acts strangely and does not conform what we see as normal. For many of us, mental health is something we don’t give a lot of thought.

We may not realize this, but often mental health can have a huge link and influence in maintaining good physical health. There are physical problems that may lead to problems of the body. We have heard much about postpartum depression in women who just gave birth. They also suffer from minor forms of mental health challenges when they are pregnant. The changes in the hormones can bring about problems and challenges in mental health. Lack of sleep can cause problems to the mental health. Work pressures can lead to too much stress which can impact both the physical and the mental state.
When a person’s mental health deteriorates, it can also reflect in the body. Bad mental health can cause people to avoid eating or sleeping. In turn, the mental disorder has become the source of the breakdown in the physical health. Too much thinking can cause much anxiety and impacts the health.
Being sensitive can lead people to understand what mental health is all about. The right knowledge can help people to have their cases treated. Unable to treat the problem only makes the problems worst and will lead to things more difficult to cure.
